The Deal with Card Games

Card games

Card games The basic fact of card games is simple. A card game is any type of game that uses any type of playing cards. The fact that card games have been played around the world for over a thousand years, that each country developed its own system of suits and rules and variations of games, and that currently, every single country around the world has hundreds of different variations of each game makes the study of card games a little more difficult.

For organizational purposes, the variations of card games have been classified into six different genres. For the most, each card game falls under one of the genres although some can technically fall under two of them.

The six genres are trick-taking, rummy-style, solitaire, casino-gambling, shedding, and accumulating ones. The card games that fall under two of the genre groupings are called multi-genre games.

One of the newest card game trends is inventing new games. There are hundreds of new games and books and websites completely dedicated to the art and play of new card games. The other latest addition to playing card games are online versions. Popular sites offer dozens of varieties and online casinos even offer different card games that players can wager on, like poker and blackjack.

The two recent trends and the diversity of card games in the past show that one thing will always remain constant with card games; they will continue to be a favorite pastime around the world and there will always be new game inventions for players to try.
